Using Handbrake to rip DVDs for your iPhone

Okay so I may be the only one with an iPhone and a Mac on this site but this is a cool article for those of you who might want to know…

Handbrake is a tool for ripping DVDs to MP4, and it kicks much ass (ALSO for Windows). It also has a nice feature that lets you choose the iPod as a profile, which sets up things for you automagically. I can attest that BSG and Buck Rogers look fantastic on my phone ;)

More info on how to do this here. Already have stuff you want to rip to another format? Have no fear (mac and windows) you can use MPEGStreamclip. It’s free and lets you output to a variety of formats and has presets for iPod as well.

iPhone

For those of you interested in the iPhone itself… well I will do a post specifically about that in the not so distant future. The short is that it really is revolutionary. It certainly has its faults (most if not all can be fixed via a software update) but it definitely raises the bar for phones and mobile devices in general. Sure your Blackberry may have internet, but how usable is it?

Edit:  I was incorrect, handbrake apparently does indeed have a Windows version!
